Newspaper Routes

Newspaper routes are seven days a week. Our company policy is that all newspapers must be delivered by 6 a.m. Monday-Saturday and 7:30 a.m. on Sunday. Carriers are responsible for all supplies (plastic bags). These are purchased from the Journal office.

You must have dependable transportation and insurance on your vehicle. If there are customers paying the carrier, you are responsible for the collection. Pay depends on amount of newspapers delivered.

Journal Postions:

Newsroom Administrative Assistant-PPC-320 News
Full-time
• Experience with MS Office, particularly Word and Excel
• Organizational and basic computer skills required
• Strong experience in administrative skills
• This position involves a variety of daily tasks intended to maintain the office functions of the News Department including answering main newsroom phone line, answering questions from the public, sorting daily mail, directing emails, ordering office supplies, maintaining files and records, and preparing some correspondence.

Retail Sales Rep-PPC-322 Advertising
Full-time
• Excellent presentation and organizational skills
• Proven track record of consistent sales achievement
• Ability to meet deadlines and deliver over the top customer service
• This position manages a sales territory and develops new business by selling advertising through a consultative approach.

Production Worker (5th St Plant)-PPC-314 Packaging
Part-time
• Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
• Production experience helpful
• Ability to work flexible schedule (nights). Saturdays are mandatory.
• This position is responsible for the insertion of advertising circulars into the newspaper using production equipment.

 

JournalNow Positions:

Interactive Account Manager-PPC-315 Sales
Full-time
• Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
• Strong presentation and negotiation skills
• 5-7 years sales experience with 1-3 years of online marketing background
• This position functions as a key catalyst for revenue generation from Media General’s relationship with Yahoo. The work entails developing sales strategies to deliver revenue growth and meet sales targets in multiple markets.

Online Account Executive-PPC316 Sales
Full-time
• Experience with Microsoft XP, Excel and other MS Office products
• 2-5 years of sales experience
• College degree preferably in marketing, communications, business
• Demonstrated knowledge of Internet-related sales and marketing
• Excellent communication and presentation skills
• This position is responsible for generating revenue for the JournalNow website by presenting advertising programs and closing contracts with clients.

Content Producer - PPC-248
Journalnow
Full-time
• Working knowledge of audio/video production.
• Solid knowledge of HTML and Photoshop.
• Journalism training or experience preferred
• Looking for an innovative, convergence-based organizer to develop web and newsroom relationship to produce high-quality, interactive web journalism.

Internships

The Journal offers one paid summer internship in each of the following: marketing, advertising, photography, and interactive media. Two reporting internships are offered. All generally run for 12 weeks.
