Scott Satterfield, a former quarterback and assistant football coach at Appalachian State, will be named assistant head coach and offensive coordinator at ASU today.
Satterfield has been the offensive coordinator at Florida International the past two seasons. FIU was 8-5 this season and finished with a 20-10 loss to Marshall in the Beef 'O' Brady's Bowl. The Panthers were 7-6 in Satterfield's first season as offensive coordinator and had a bowl victory against Toledo.
Satterfield was the passing game coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Toledo in 2009. The Rockets were 5-7 that season.
In 11 seasons as an assistant at ASU, from 1998 through 2008, Satterfield coached wide receivers and running backs and finally quarterbacks from 2003 through 2008, a period in which the Mountaineers switched to a spread offense and won three national titles in the NCAA's Football Championship Subdivision.
Satterfield, a native of Hillsborough, was a three-year starter at quarterback for the Mountaineers from 1993 through 1995. He was an All-Southern Conference first team selection after leading the Mountaineers to a 12-1 record in 1995.
