College Basketball Roundup:Barbour sets record

Nick Barbour scored a school-record 44 points as High Point ended its regular season with a 98-60 rout of Campbell in a Big South Conference game Wednesday night.

Barbour made 11 of 17 shots, including 7 of 10 from 3-point range, and sank 15 of 17 free throws. The senior guard also became the leading career scorer for the Panthers (12-17, 8-10) in Division I play with 2,092 points, surpassing Arizona Reid's 2,069.

High Point led 51-17 at halftime after shooting 59.3 percent to 25 percent for the Camels (17-13, 11-6).

UNC Charlotte 72, George Washington 62: Chris Braswell scored 19 points and Javarris Barnett added 18 as UNC Charlotte (13-13, 5-8) claimed a home victory in an Atlantic 10 game.

The result was revenge after GW (9-18, 4-9) won 60-52 at home in January.

The 49ers lost forward K.J. Sherrill with a broken arm late in the first half.

No. 2 Syracuse 56, South Florida 48: Scoop Jardine scored 15 points to help Syracuse (28-1, 15-1) overcome a 13-point first-half deficit and win a Big East game at home.

Anthony Collins scored 16 points for the Bulls (17-11, 10-5).

No. 4 Kansas 66, Texas A&M 58: Elijah Johnson scored 21 points to help the Jayhawks (23-5, 13-2) turn back the Aggies (13-14, 4-11) in a Big 12 game in College Station, Texas.

No. 6 Michigan State 66, Minnesota 61: Keith Appling and Brandon Wood each scored 13 points to key Michigan State's road win over Minnesota (17-11, 5-10), helping the Spartans (23-5, 12-3) keep their hold on first place in the Big Ten.

No. 10 Marquette 82, Rutgers 65: Jae Crowder scored 27 points and Darius Johnson-Odom added 21 to lead the Golden Eagles (23-5, 12-3) to a Big East win over the Scarlet Knights (12-16, 4-11) in Milwaukee.

No. 19 Wichita State 68, Illinois State 55: Joe Ragland scored 14 points to lead Wichita State (25-4, 15-2) to a road victory over Illinois State (17-12, 8-9) to clinch the Missouri Valley Conference title.

No. 20 Notre Dame 71, West Virginia 44: Jerian Grant scored 20 points and the Fighting Irish (20-8, 12-3) extended their winning streak to nine games with a rout of the Mountaineers (17-11, 7-8) in a Big East game in South Bend, Ind.

No. 22 Temple 80, La Salle 79: Ramone Moore scored five of his 18 points in overtime to help Temple (22-5, 11-2) beat La Salle (18-10, 7-6) in an Atlantic 10 game — the Owls' 11th straight win — in Philadelphia.

No. 23 Indiana 75, N.C. Central 56: Cody Zeller had 17 points and seven rebounds, leading the Hoosiers (21-7) to a home win over the Eagles (14-13).

Dominique Sutton had 21 points for N.C. Central.

Virginia Commonwealth 63, UNC Wilmington 59: Rob Brandenberg scored 14 of his 21 points in the second half to help Virginia Commonwealth (24-6, 14-2) take a road win in a Colonial Athletic Association game.

Keith Rendleman led the Seahawks (9-19, 5-12) with 24 points and 10 rebounds.

Memphis 70, East Carolina 47: Will Barton scored 25 points and grabbed eight rebounds as the Tigers (20-8, 10-3) pulled away in the second half to defeat the Pirates (12-14, 3-10) in a Conference USA game in Memphis, Tenn.

Miguel Paul led the Pirates with 20 points.

Vanderbilt 59, South Carolina 48: John Jenkins scored 21 points and the Commodores (20-8, 9-4) won a Southeastern Conference game against the Gamecocks (10-17, 2-11) at home.

William & Mary 75, Hofstra 71: Forward Quinn McDowell scored 21 points to lead the Tribe (6-24, 4-13) to a home victory over the Pride (9-21, 2-15) in a CAA game.

Women

Saint Louis 70, UNC Charlotte 69 (OT): Saint Louis outscored UNC Charlotte 7-1 in the last 36 seconds of overtime and pulled out an Atlantic 10 victory when Desirae Ball hit a layup with 1 second remaining.

Epiphany Woodson scored a career-high 32 points for the 49ers (15-12, 7-6).
