Parkland defeated Southern Pines Pinecrest 36-25 on its home mat Saturday night to win its sixth consecutive state title in the NCHSAA dual wrestling championships.

The Mustangs, competing in Class 4-A, also extended their winning streak — currently the longest in the nation for a high-school team — to 266 matches and finished this season 50-0.

Earlier Saturday, West Wilkes took a 50-13 victory at Ayden-Grifton in the Class 1-A final. It was the third consecutive title for the Blackhawks, who finished 22-1.
