Although he is still in the early stages of his high school basketball career, sophomore Larry Curry III said that his first game at East Forsyth always will stand out.
"I couldn't stop shaking before my first game," Curry said. "It was a rivalry game, at Glenn, and I was looking at the crowd and got real nervous. I didn't score a lot, but I did OK."
Curry, 6-foot-2, said he started 10 games last season as a freshman. Now, he's the Eagles' starting point guard.
He said that his best game this season came in Piedmont Triad 4-A play, against Ragsdale.
"I distributed the ball well, had a lot of assists, scored well and came up big on defense," Curry said.
Curry said he considers his ability to drive, create opportunities for his teammates and his court vision as his greatest strengths.
"Coach (Brant Short) wants me to work on my shooting and using my right hand more. I'm left-handed, and they say that's difficult to guard," Curry said.
Curry dreams of playing basketball for North Carolina and would like to remain involved with the sport in some capacity when his playing days are over.
"I'd like to be a scout or somebody who is always around basketball," he said.
Curry also said he might try to play lacrosse in the spring.
"It's a different type of sport to play," he said.
