WSSU holds off St. Augustine's

Jasmine Newkirk scored 21 points, and Courtney Medley added 14 as Winston-Salem State held off visiting St. Augustine's 75-63 on Monday night.

The Rams (15-6, 4-1 CIAA) shot 43 percent but had 29 turnovers. Keyona Bryant led the Falcons (11-10, 1-4) with 18 points.

Appalachian 50, College of Charleston 41: Anna Freeman narrowly missed a triple-double, leading visiting Appalachian (17-3, 11-1) past College of Charleston (6-17, 5-9) in a Southern Conference game.

Freeman scored a game-high 19 points, grabbed 13 rebounds and made eight steals for Appalachian. Alyssa Frye led College of Charleston with 14 points.

Davidson 69, Georgia Southern 62: Laura Murray scored a game-high 17 points, and visiting Davidson (15-7, 11-2 Southern Conference) outlasted Georgia Southern (7-16, 3-11).

Radford 64, Campbell 59: Da'Naria Erwin Spencer posted 18 second-half points, including a decisive 3-pointer with 12 seconds left, as Radford (12-10, 6-5 Big South) beat Campbell (12-10, 5-6).

Elon 69, UNCG 50: Ali Ford scored a game-high 19 points, and teammate Kelsey Evans had 11 points and nine rebounds to lead Elon (12-11, 8-6 SoCon) past UNCG (3-19, 2-12). Natalie Headley had 14 points for UNCG.

Liberty 73, High Point 65: Devon Brown and Tolu Omotola scored 13 points each as Liberty (15-7, 9-1) outlasted host High Point (14-8, 9-2) in a Big South game.

Charleston Southern 86, Gardner-Webb 66: Rachelle Coward and Erin Bratcher scored 16 points apiece as the Charleston Southern (14-8, 7-4 Big South) beat Gardner-Webb (2-19, 1-10).

Florida A&M 68, N.C. A&T 63: Kimberley Sparkman scored 16 of her 19 points in the first half as Florida A&M held off N.C. A&T. Amber Calvin led A&T with 19 points.

Coastal Carolina 74, UNCA 58: Shatia Cole and Taylor Epley scored 15 points each, and Olivia Irick added a dozen as the Chanticleers defeated visiting UNC Asheville.

No. 1 Baylor 81, Oklahoma 54: Brittney Griner scored 27 points, grabbed eight rebounds and blocked shots as unbeaten topped Oklahoma.

No. 8 Maryland 64, No. 22 Georgia Tech 56: Alyssa Thomas scored 23 points and pulled down 12 rebounds, Tianna Hawkins added a career-high 23 points and visiting Maryland (20-3, 7-3 ACC) beat Georgia Tech (17-7, 7-4) in Atlanta.

No. 10 Ohio State 72, Wisconsin 58: Samantha Prahalis scored 34 points as Ohio State (21-2, 8-2 Big Ten) beat Wisconsin (8-15, 4-7).
