Duke defeats Wake Forest again

Haley Peters had 18 points and 11 rebounds to lead four players in double figures as No. 5 Duke beat Wake Forest on Thursday night for the 37th straight time, 75-43.

Elizabeth Williams added 16 points, Chelsea Gray 12 and Richa Jackson 11 with 11 rebounds in the 27th straight ACC win at home for the Blue Devils (18-3, 9-0), who had a 34-game home-court winning streak snapped in Monday's 61-45 loss to No. 3 Connecticut.

Chelsea Douglas led Wake Forest (12-10, 2-7) with 11 points, and Lakevia Boykin added 10. Secily Ray had 12 rebounds with six points.

 

No. 24 Georgia Tech 75, N.C. State 68, (OT): Sasha Goodlett scored seven of her 21 points in overtime to lead Georgia Tech past N.C. State (14-9, 4-6 ACC) in Duluth, Ga.

Metra Walhour added 11 points, and Chelsea Regins had 10 points and 11 rebounds for the Yellow Jackets (17-6, 7-2), who scored the first 11 points in overtime after letting a nine-point lead slip away late in regulation.

No. 4 Stanford 62, Arizona State 49: Nnemkadi Ogwumike had 22 points and 16 rebounds, her sister, Chiney, had 20 points and 16 rebounds, and visiting Stanford overpowered Arizona State (15-6, 6-4 Pac 12) in the second half.

Stanford (19-1, 9-0) won its 67th straight conference game.

 

No. 6 Kentucky 82, Mississippi 41: Freshman Bria Goss scored 19 points and Kentucky got a victory against Mississippi in Lexington, Ky.

Kentucky (21-2, 10-0 Southeastern Conference) forced Mississippi (12-11, 2-8) into 36 turnovers.

 

South Carolina 64, No. 8 Tennessee 60: Markeshia Grant scored 27 points and visiting South Carolina notched its first win against the Lady Vols since 1980.

The Gamecocks (18-5, 7-3 Southeastern Conference) were down 60-55, when Ashley Bruner hit a layup with 3:18 to play. The basket launched a 9-0 run for South Carolina to close out the game, and Ieasia Walker hit the go-ahead layup with 2:15 to play.

The Lady Vols (16-6, 7-2) missed five shots during the run and wouldn't score again.

 

No. 9 Maryland 86, Boston College 44: Laurin Mincy and Brene Moseley each scored 16 and Alyssa Thomas added 14 to lead Maryland to a win against visiting Boston College.

Thomas hit a jumper six seconds into the game, and in the first 3:39, had four field goals to give Maryland (19-3, 6-3 ACC) a 13-4 lead.

The Eagles (5-17, 0-9) have lost nine straight.

 

No. 12 Delaware 62, UNC Wilmington 53: Elena Delle Donne had 29 points and 14 rebounds to help visiting Delaware hold off UNC Wilmington.

The Blue Hens (19-1, 10-0 Colonial Athletic Association) grabbed the lead just before halftime, then never trailed in the second half.

Karneshia Garrett and Abria Trice had 10 points to lead UNCW (13-8, 6-4).

 

No. 16 Nebraska 93, No. 15 Purdue 89, (3 OT): Lindsey Moore scored eight of her 26 points in the third overtime session, including two 3-pointers, and visiting Nebraska beat Purdue to move into a first-place tie in the Big Ten.

Jordan Hooper had 27 points and seven rebounds to lead the Cornhuskers, and Alex Guyton had 16 points and 13 rebounds for the Boilermakers.

 

No. 19 Penn State 76, Indiana 44: Maggie Lucas scored 24 points and Penn State won for the sixth time in seven games, beating visiting Indiana.

Nikki Greene scored 17 points and added six rebounds for the Lions (17-5, 7-3 Big Ten). Milika Tuafa led the Hoosiers (5-18, 0-10) with nine points.

 

No. 20 Gonzaga 77, Portland 56: Kayla Standish scored 18 points to help Gonzaga beat visiting Portland (8-10, 1-9 West Coast Conference).

The Bulldogs (20-3, 9-1) reached 20 wins for the sixth straight season.

 

No. 21 Georgia 70, Mississippi State 60: Khaalidah Miller and teammate Jasmine Hassell scored 16 points each to lead Georgia past visiting Mississippi State (13-9, 3-6 SEC).

Miller had played all 40 minutes of the last two games for Georgia (17-6, 6-4) in the absence of starting point guard Jasmine James.

State/Area

Tulane 63, East Carolina 49: A 19-5 run in the first 10 minutes of the second half powered visiting Tulane past East Carolina.

Freshman Jamie Kaplan led Tulane (16-5, 5-3 Conference USA) with 20 points off the bench. ECU (6-15, 0-8) was led by Kristine Mial with 15 points and nine rebounds.

 

Piedmont International 68, Hiwassee 49: Emily Buffaloe scored 18 points and Kirby Hill chipped in with 14 for Piedmont International as it defeated visiting Hiwassee.

Suzanne Smith and Shannon Lackey also scored 12 points apiece for Piedmont (12-3). Bethany Allen led Hiwassee with 17.
