East Carolina will be short-handed in the backfield again this weekend against Tulane.
Coach Ruffin McNeill said Monday that junior running back Reggie Bullock will miss Saturday's game with an injury to his right leg. He ran for 104 yards and three touchdowns in the win at Navy while playing through pain over the weekend. Bullock also missed the previous week's game against Memphis with a thigh injury.
Sophomore Torrance Hunt is probable after leaving the Navy game with an ankle injury. Hunt ran for 98 yards and a touchdown against Memphis in Bullock's absence. Michael Dobson and fourth-stringer Zico Pasut could see larger roles for the Pirates (3-4, 2-1 Conference USA) against the Green Wave (2-6, 1-3).
Hokies lose another starter on defense
Leading tackler Bruce Taylor of Virginia Tech needs foot surgery and will miss the rest of the season after getting hurt against Boston College.
Trainer Mike Goforth said Monday that Taylor suffered a Lisfranc sprain of his right foot and will have surgery next week.
Taylor, a junior linebacker, will have to keep weight off the foot for six to eight weeks and will be limited in the spring, but should be recovered in time for fall practice Goforth said.
Taylor is the fourth defensive player — and third starter — the Hokies (7-1, 3-1 ACC) have lost for the season because of an injury.
