As the new coach of North Forsyth's girls basketball team, Rick Foreman knows his first team is going to be very young.
So he's glad he has senior Jerrica Hill as a leader and mentor.
"She is one of two returning players for us," Foreman said. "She is a real take-charge kind of girl who has good basketball sense and is a great leader. I look for her to do a lot this year with such an inexperienced team."
Hill embraces the challenge ahead of her.
"I look forward to being a leader," she said. "We're a young team, but everyone is working hard. I'm going to try to push them. We have to have a mentality of never giving up."
Foreman said Hill can help set the tone he wants to establish for the program.
"We have a lot of underclassmen," Foreman said. "It is going to be a building season for us. With her leadership, we are headed in the right direction, and she sets a great example for the younger players to follow."
Hill, 5-foot-9, is a small forward, but Foreman won't hesitate to move her around if needed.
"If I have to, in a pinch, I can move her to point guard," he said.
Hill said she's confident in her ability to handle the ball but that she prefers playing on the wing.
"I think I'm a pretty good shooter," she said. "I'm just trying to continue making progress overall as a player."
Hill said she would like to attend N.C. State and major in psychology.
