Jimmy Rollins is keeping his swagger in Philadelphia.
Three people familiar with the negotiations told The Associated Press that Rollins has agreed to a three-year, $33-million contract with the Phillies, with a vesting option for a fourth year. The sources spoke on condition of anonymity Saturday because the agreement is pending a physical.
"Gotta deal with me for 3 (4) more years!" Rollins wrote on Twitter. He also thanked Brian Dawkins, a former Eagles safety, who tweeted congratulations to Rollins and the Phillies.
Rollins is a three-time All-Star shortstop and was the 2007 NL MVP. He has spent his entire career with the Phillies after being selected in the second round of the 1996 amateur draft, and he was a free agent for the first time.
Rollins, who turned 33 last month, sought at least a five-year deal, but the Phillies didn't want to go that long. Rollins, who said from the start that he wanted to stay in Philadelphia, hit .268 with 16 homers, 63 RBIs and 30 steals last season.
REDS: Cincinnati acquired right-handed starter Mat Latos from the San Diego Padres on Saturday for four players, including infielder Yonder Alonso and right-handed starter Edinson Volquez.
Cincinnati was in the market for a front-of-the-rotation starter. Latos went 9-14 with a 3.47 ERA for the Padres last season, finishing among the NL leaders in ERA and strikeouts.
The Reds gave up two of their top prospects — first-round picks Alonso and catcher Yasmani Grandal — in their first deal of the offseason. The Reds also gave up right-handed reliever Brad Boxberger.
GIANTS: San Francisco signed backup catcher Eli Whiteside to a one-year deal Saturday after declining to offer him a contract Monday, avoiding arbitration and making him a free agent.
