● WHEN: Today through Aug. 18
● WHERE: Wofford College, Spartanburg, S.C.
● LAST YEAR: The Panthers started the year with Jake Delhomme under center, but by the end of the season, Matt Moore was leading the offense while Delhomme was on his way out of town. Carolina (8-8) closed the year with three straight wins, including a one-sided win over Brett Favre and NFC runner-up Minnesota. The offense relied on the ground game, with Jonathan Stewart (1,133 yards, 10 touchdowns) and DeAngelo Williams (1,117 yards, seven touchdowns).
● EXPECTATIONS: Coach John Fox is preparing for his ninth -- and possibly final -- season with Carolina using a remade roster that shed payroll and added plenty of youth. Moore performed well late last season as the starter, but Jimmy Clausen's arrival via the draft means that Moore's margin for error could be slim. While Stewart, Williams and WR Steve Smith provide plenty of hope for the offense, the defense must replace the pass rush lost when Julius Peppers left in free agency as part of the team's makeover.
