No. 3 Notre Dame downs Pittsburgh

No. 3 Notre Dame 86, Pittsburgh 76: Skylar Diggins had 23 points and 10 rebounds, both season highs, and Lindsay Schrader added 18 points to pace Notre Dame past Pittsburgh yesterday in South Bend, Ind.

Diggins was 9 of 11 from the free-throw line and the Fighting Irish (21-1, 8-1 Big East) were 21 of 29. Pittsburgh (12-10, 1-8) was 9 of 15 and Coach Agnus Bernato was complaining throughout the game about the lopsided calls.

Taneisha Harrison led the Panthers with 20 points.

No. 4 Nebraska 71, No. 12 Texas A&M 60: Kelsey Griffin had 21 points and 10 rebounds, Cory Montgomery added a season-high 18 points and Nebraska turned back Texas A&M's late comeback attempt to defeat the Aggies yesterday in Lincoln, Neb.

The Cornhuskers (21-0, 8-0 Big 12) won by double digits for the 18th time, but this one wasn't as easy the score showed.

The Aggies (16-5, 4-4) were within 65-60 in the final three minutes before Dominique Kelley made big plays at both ends to help the Huskers rebuild their lead.

No. 11 West Virginia 75, Providence 59: Liz Repella scored 25 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to help visiting West Virginia beat Providence yesterday.

Asya Bussie added 12 points and a game-high 11 rebounds for the Mountaineers (21-3, 8-2 Big East), who bounced back after an 80-47 loss at top-ranked Connecticut on Tuesday.

No. 13 Oklahoma 77, No. 10 Oklahoma State 66: Danielle Robinson scored a career-high 36 points and Oklahoma beat Oklahoma State yesterday in Stillwater.

In a showdown of two of the Big 12's — and nation's — top point guards, Robinson outdueled Oklahoma State's Andrea Riley, the conference's leading scorer, who led the Cowgirls with 30 points.

No. 23 Wisconsin-Green Bay 74, Wright State 50: Julie Wojta scored 23 points to lead Wisconsin-Green Bay past Wright State yesterday in Dayton, Ohio.

Wojta went 11 of 15 from the field as Wisconsin-Green Bay (19-3, 8-3) shot 55.8 percent overall. The Phoenix hit 10 of 20 3-pointers. Wojta scored 21 points and made all 10 of her shots in a 68-41 win over Wright State (8-13, 4-7) on Jan. 7 in Wisconsin.

No. 24 Gonzaga 70, Portland 58: Heather Bowman scored 19 points and visiting Gonzaga turned a six-point halftime deficit into a victory against Portland yesterday.

Courtney Vandersloot added 14 points and eight assists for the Bulldogs (19-4, 8-0 West Coast Conference), who outscored Portland 40-22 in the second half en route to their 10th consecutive victory.

Howard 55, WSSU 44: Winston-Salem State lost its 18th game in a row, falling to visiting Howard yesterday afternoon.

The Rams (2-20) had a 31-12 halftime lead, but the Bison (11-10) outscored the Rams 43-13 in the second half.

Zykia Brown led the way for the Bison with 30 points and nine rebounds and Cheyenn Curley-Payne added 12 points.

MaLisa Bumpus scored 19 points to lead the Rams while Vontisha Woods and Nikki Kee had 10 points each. Rene Rector, the Rams' second-leading scorer, didn't play after being benched by Coach Dee Stokes for breaking a team rule.

Davidson 83, UNC Greensboro 53: Ashley Lax scored a career-high 25 points to lead visiting Davidson past UNC Greensboro yesterday.

It was the 100th career victory for Coach Annette Wise of the Wildcats.

Amanda Leigh led UNCG with 16 points off the bench.

Appalachian State 73, Elon 54: Kelsey Sharkey had 12 points and 13 rebounds and T.C. Weldon scored 16 points to lead visiting Appalachian State past Elon yesterday.

Courtney Freeman added 11 points and 13 rebounds for ASU and Sam Ramirez and Ashley Dewart each had 12 points.

Kelsey Evans led the Phoenix with 14 points and eight rebounds.

Central Florida 60, East Carolina 50: Angelica Mealing scored 14 points to lead Central Florida past East Carolina yesterday in Orlando, Fla.

Kim Gray led East Carolina with 14 points and seven rebounds and Ashley Clarke had 10 points.
