James started at point guard for Gibson and added eight assists and seven rebounds. A one-on-one showdown between stars James and Wade never materialized as the Cavs controlled the game and attempted 36 free throws to 14 for Miami.
Wade had 24 points.

■ Hornets: Point guard Chris Paul will be out about four to six weeks after having arthroscopic knee surgery yesterday.
Paul will start rehabilitating immediately and be on crutches for two or three weeks, the team said.
■ Clippers: Mike Dunleavy has stepped down as Los Angeles' head coach, retaining his job as GM.
Assistant coach Kim Hughes will replace Dunleavy.
