Deacs rip Wildcats in field hockey 6-0

Wake Forest defeated Davidson 6-0 for its first shutout in almost a year in field hockey yesterday at Kentner Stadium.

The Deacons' last shutout was a 1-0 victory against California on Oct. 19, 2008.

Wake Forest held Davidson (2-6) without a shot in the first half and the Wildcats attempted four shots in the second.

Faith Adams had one goal and two assists for the Deacons and Lauren Greenwald had three assists.

Wake Forest's other goals were scored by Alex Wolfgang-Price, Kaitlin Piosa, Kerry Ergen, Melissa Martin and Liza Casella.

Julia Young and Kaitlyn Ruhf each played 35 minutes in goal for the Deacons (6-1), the nation's third-ranked team.
