»  Comments | Post a Comment

Rangers 5, Coyotes 2: Marian Gaborik scored two goals and added an assist as New York defeated visiting Phoenix last night.
The Rangers netted two goals on five shots in the first period and two more on only six more attempts in the second to chase goalie Ilya Bryzgalov.
Gaborik's first score of the night gave New York a 2-0 lead and his second — the 10th this season — made it 4-0. In between, Gaborik set up Vinny Prospal for another goal.
The Rangers snapped a three-game losing streak.
Artem Anisimov scored for the second straight game, Enver Lisin added a third-period goal, and Henrik Lundqvist made 30 saves for the Rangers.

Canadiens 3, Islanders 2 (OT): Roman Hamrlik scored 1:32 into overtime to lift Montreal past visiting New York last night.
Hamrlik took Tomas Plekanec's centering flip pass from the right side on a 2-on-1 and put a shot into the open left side.
Jeff Tambellini drew New York even for the second time 15:24 into the third with his second power-play goal of the game.
Jaroslav Halak made 29 saves in his fourth straight start for the Canadiens (6-5-0), who finished a 4-2 homestand.
Travis Moen, who assisted on Jaroslav Spacek's goal in the first, got his third goal 7:44 into the third period to put the Canadiens up 2-1. Glen Metropolit assisted on both Montreal goals.

Blackhawks 3, Wild 1: Patrick Kane scored a spectacular third-period goal just 3:25 after Minnesota had made it a one-goal game and Chicago beat the visiting Wild last night.
Cristobal Huet made 20 saves and extended his shutout streak to 113 minutes, 2 seconds before Andrew Brunette's power-play goal on a wild scramble in front of the net cut Chicago's lead to 2-1 at 3:29 of the third.
Dave Bolland and Troy Brouwer scored in the first period for the Blackhawks.
The Wild clinched its first losing October in five years.
