No. 11 Wake Forest beat fifth-ranked Florida State 3-0 in soccer last night at Spry Stadium.

"I'm really ecstatic with our team's performance," said Coach Tony da Luz . "A performance like tonight shows what our team is capable of. Florida State is a good team. We were able to disrupt their attack and keep pressure on them."

Wake Forest improved to 10-2-1 and 2-1-1 in the ACC. Florida State fell to 10-2 and 3-1.

Neither team generated quality opportunities for most of the first half. But Wake Forest broke through on Kaley Fountain's eighth goal of the season in the 42nd minute. Hutchinson's goals came in the second half. She now has 32 goals for her career, putting her in second in school history, two behind Sarah Kozey (2002-05).

Entering the game, the Seminoles had scored a league-best 42 goals. But the Deacons held them to nine shot attempts.

Wake Forest's next game is scheduled for Oct. 15, when it travels to Raleigh to play N.C. State. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
