Rob Bironas kicked a 53-yard field goal with less than a minute remaining and the Tennessee Titans beat the Houston Texans 20-17 last night.
The Texans (5-5) had a chance to tie it, but Kris Brown's 49-yard attempt with 1 second remaining was wide left. It was his second miss of the game and the second straight game he's missed a chance to send the Texans to overtime.
The Titans (4-6) haven't lost since Vince Young took over at quarterback. He is 2-0 as a starter in his hometown of Houston after running for the winning touchdown in overtime in his last start as a rookie in 2006.
Matt Schaub threw touchdown passes to Steve Slaton and Andre Johnson as the game was tied at 17 after three quarters.
Bironas kicked a 50-yard field goal with 2:49 left in the third to give the Titans a 17-14 lead. On Houston's next series, Schaub split double coverage on a 49-yard pass to Johnson to the Titans' 8. Brown tied it with a 26-yard field goal on the last play of the quarter.
Young threw a touchdown pass to Kenny Britt and LenDale White had a TD run in the second quarter for the Titans.
The Texans started their second series of the game at the Tennessee 36 after a short punt by Brett Kern. On first down, Schaub found Johnson across the middle for a 15-yard gain. Houston drove to the Titans' 3 and on third down, Schaub underhanded a pass to Slaton, who bulled into the end zone with 6:36 left in the first quarter.
