Whitney Knight scored a game-high 21 points and had eight rebounds, five steals, and three assists as Reynolds edged Carver 45-42 in a semifinal game of the Mary Garber Holiday Classic last night at Atkins.
Reynolds will play Mount Tabor in the championship game tonight. The Spartans advanced with a 64-45 win against Starmount.
Tori Hardy added 12 points for Reynolds (3-0), including two free throws with less than a minute to play that helped ice the win.
Brianna Davis-Bloom scored 18 points to lead Carver, which held Reynolds to four points in the fourth quarter and cut the lead to two points but could get no closer.
Gabby Oglesby led a balanced scoring attack with 11 points in Mount Tabor's win against Starmount.
The Spartans pulled away in the second quarter to lead 35-26 at halftime, and then used an 18-8 scoring advantage in the third quarter to put the game out of reach.
Kelli Bonner led all scorers with 24 points for Stamount, while Olivia Gough chipped in 11.
In four consolation games, Parkland defeated West Forsyth 46-38, North Forsyth downed Forsyth Country Day 55-47, Glenn edged Winston-Salem Prep 35-32 and Reagan downed East Forsyth 44-37.
Victoria Davis poured in 28 points to lead Parkland against West Forsyth.
Parkland (2-1) forged to a 37-27 lead after three quarters and held off West in the fourth quarter to secure the win.
Michelle Price scored 14 points to lead West Forsyth, which fell to 1-2.
Kayla Adams scored 22 points and Callie Yohn added 19 in North Forsyth's win against Forsyth Country Day.
The Vikings (3-1) scored the last four points of the third quarter for a 41-39 lead before taking control early in the final eight minutes.
Taylor Duggins led the Furies (4-2) with 14 points. Brianna Collins chipped in 12 points for North.
Deonna Young scored eight of Glenn's team-high 13 points in the second quarter in the Bobcats' win against Winston-Salem Prep. Young also had four steals for the Bobcats (2-1) and Catherine Head grabbed six rebounds to go with her four points.
Anquinette Crawford led all scorers with 15 points for the Phoenix (1-2) and Cierra York finished with 11.
Alana Beroth scored 20 points and pulled down 14 rebounds in Reagan's win against East Forsyth.
Beroth scored seven points in the second quarter and six in the third quarter as Reagan (1-2) slowly pulled away for a 33-24 lead.
Caitlin Sheppard added 11 points for Reagan.
Kristen Hicks scored 14 points to lead East Forsyth (0-3).
