NHL Roundup: Erat leads Predators

»  Comments | Post a Comment

Predators 3, Red Wings 1: Martin Erat scored two goals and Nashville beat visiting Detroit last night.
The streaking Predators finished off a five-game homestand in style and have won 10 of 12 overall.
Jason Arnott also scored a power-play goal for Nashville. Pekka Rinne, who has been in net for each game during this run, stopped 30 shots for the win.
Drew Miller scored for Detroit, which has lost three of four.

Rangers 7, Blue Jackets 4: Marian Gaborik again sparked New York's offense with two goals and two assists, but this time he had lots of long-awaited help last night.
After Columbus took a 2-0 lead in the first period, Gaborik got the Rangers going on their way to matching their biggest offensive output of the season following coach John Tortorella's timeout. The often-fiery Tortorella seemed to deliver a positive message during the break.

Islanders 4, Maple Leafs 3, OT: Dwayne Roloson made 58 saves and Josh Bailey scored in overtime to lift New York past Toronto last night.
Bailey scored 4:18 into overtime, taking a pass from Sean Bergenheim and slamming the puck into an open net. It was the Islanders only shot of the extra period. Jeff Tambellini, Matt Moulson and Bergenheim also scored for New York (9-8-7).

Penguins 3, Panthers 2, OT: Sidney Crosby scored on a power play at 3:07 of overtime and Pittsburgh rallied from a two-goal deficit last night.
Pascal Dupuis and Michael Rupp also scored for the Penguins, who won consecutive games in regulation for the first time since Oct. 17 and 20. Evgeni Malkin had two assists.
Marc-Andre Fleury stopped 19 shots for the Penguins, who outshot Florida 45-21.
Nathan Horton and Keith Ballard scored for the Panthers, who have lost only once in regulation in their last 12 games (8-1-3).

Senators 4, Capitals 3, OT:Mike Fisher scored 1:14 into overtime, giving Ottawa at win last night.
Fisher batted Chris Phillips' centering pass from the left side out of the air and past Semyon Varlamov for his 10th goal of the season.
Alexandre Picard scored Ottawa's second goal in a span of 4:20 on a power play 7:40 into the third to tie it at 3.

Bruins 4, Blues 2: Patrice Bergeron had four assists, two on power-play goals and another short-handed, to help Boston beat St. Louis last night.
Milan Lucic got the go-ahead goal midway through the second period and Marco Sturm scored short-handed midway through the third for a two-goal cushion on Boston's 20th shot against Chris Mason.
Blake Wheeler and Mark Recchi also scored for the defending Northeast Division champions.
