Bruins 2, Sabres 1 (OT): Patrice Bergeron scored with 47 seconds into overtime, lifting visiting Boston over Buffalo last night.
Bergeron won a faceoff and then was in the slot to tip in a shot by Zdeno Chara.
Buffalo outshot Boston 15-6 in the third period and had several good chances to take a lead against goalie Tuukka Rask, who made his third straight start.
Rask stopped 25 shots, including a point-blank save on Thomas Vanek three minutes into the third and a blocker stop on Jochen Hecht's snap shot from the left circle with about four minutes remaining.
Panthers 2, Red Wings 1 (OT): Bryan McCabe's goal 40 seconds into overtime gave visiting Florida a win over Detroit last night.
Stephen Weiss scored Florida's other goal. Nathan Horton had two assists and Scott Clemmensen stopped 39 shots.
Pavel Datsyuk also scored for Detroit, which lost its second straight at home. Chris Osgood made 18 saves.
McCabe beat Osgood with a one-timed shot from the right circle for his third of the season.
Weiss tied it 1-1 at 8:13 of the third period with his seventh goal. He put a cross-crease pass into the open side of the net.
Canadiens 3, Capitals 2: Travis Moen and Tomas Plekanec scored in a three-minute span early in the second period, Michael Cammalleri added a goal in the third, and visiting Montreal withstood a furious comeback to beat Washington last night.
Montreal led 3-1, but Brendan Morrison scored with 2:32 remaining to pull Washington within a goal. Then Maxim Lapierre was whistled for hooking with 1:52 to play, giving the Capitals a power play through the end of regulation.
Washington pulled its goalie with a minute to play, one of the Canadiens players lost his stick, and the Capitals held siege in the offensive zone.
But the closest they got to tying the game came when Mike Green's drive hit the right post with less than 25 seconds left.
Wild 3, Islanders 2: Owen Nolan's goal with 67 seconds remaining, his second of the game, sent struggling Minnesota to a victory over visiting New York last night.
Nolan had been dragged down in front of Islanders goalie Martin Biron on an earlier sequence and had just climbed back to his feet when the puck came his way from Eric Belanger.
Nolan, 37, known for his grittiness around the net, knocked it in for a late lead.
That gave a big lift to a team that was 0-2-2 in its previous four games and coming off an ugly loss.
Jon Sim had a goal and an assist for the Islanders, who lost in regulation for the first time in six games despite holding a 2-1 lead in the third period. Mikko Koivu tied it for Minnesota on a power play with 13:02 left.
