Syracuse 95, No. 13 California 73: Scoop Jardine scored a career-high 22 points, Wes Johnson had 17 points and 11 rebounds, and Syracuse raced past California last night in the semifinals of the 2K Sports Classic in New York.

The Orange (3-0) will play No. 6 North Carolina for the championship tonight. Jerome Randle led Cal (2-1) with 25 points.

Miami 74, Tulane 54: Dwayne Collins had 23 points and 14 rebounds for Miami (3-0) yesterday in the first round of the Charleston (S.C.) Classic.

No. 11 Duke 69, Georgia Southern 42: Jasmine Thomas scored 12 points last night for host Duke (2-1).

No. 3 Ohio State 92, West Virginia 69: Samantha Prahalis had 14 points and 12 assists for host Ohio State (3-0) last night in the semifinals of the Preseason WNIT.

No. 5 Notre Dame 68, No. 21 Michigan State 67: Ashley Barlow scored 18 points and hit a tiebreaking free throw with 10 seconds left last night for visiting Notre Dame (2-0).

No. 14 Arizona State 82, Yale 46: Becca Tobin scored 14 points for visiting Arizona State (2-0) last night.

No. 16 Georgia 74, Chattanooga 57: Freshman guard Jasmine James scored 25 points last night for visiting Georgia (2-0).

State/area women

Clemson 94, South Carolina 92 (2 OT): Shaniqua Pauldo, who hit a go-ahead free throw with 3 seconds left in the second overtime, had 20 points and nine rebounds last night for Clemson (2-1). Freshman Kelsey Bone led visiting South Carolina with 32 points and 14 rebounds.
