■ Tigers: Jim Leyland will be sticking around in the Detroit dugout for awhile.
The Tigers gave Leyland, their manager, a two-year contract extension yesterday through the 2011 season. Financial terms were not announced.
Leyland is in his fourth season with the Tigers, and this was the last year on his deal. Detroit was leading the AL Central with a 35-31 record going into last night's game against Milwaukee.
The Tigers went 74-88 last year, and Leyland wasn't offered an extension after the season.
Leyland had a 292-260 record with the Tigers going into last night's game. He guided Detroit to a surprising AL pennant in 2006 and was voted AL Manager of the Year.
But after going 95-67 to reach the World Series, the Tigers dipped to 88-74 in 2007 and tumbled last year.
■ Braves: Tom Glavine said he plans to "hang out" for the rest of the summer but is not announcing his retirement.
The Atlanta Braves released Glavine, 43, on June 3 after he finished a rehabilitation from offseason surgery on his left elbow and shoulder.
Glavine sent a text message yesterday saying he won't pitch this year. He says he will "evaluate things at the end of the season."
Glavine told MLB.com he will not follow through with initial plans to file a grievance against the Braves. He has said he believes he was released for financial reasons.

Rodriguez had been set to play his first regular-season games in his hometown of Miami against the Marlins. He is batting .145 (8 for 55) in June.
He is in an 0-for-15 slump, and is hitting .212 with nine homers and 26 RBIs.
Rodriguez missed the start of the season after hip surgery. He has played in every game since rejoining the Yankees on May 8 in Baltimore, where he homered on his first pitch.
In scratching him from yesterday's lineup against the Marlins, Yankees manager Joe Girardi said Rodriguez was "fatigued."

■ Rockies: Setup man Manny Corpas arrived at Coors Field with a swollen right elbow and has been sent for an MRI exam.
Manager Jim Tracy said yesterday that Corpas saw team orthopedist Thomas Noonan, and the team was awaiting the results of medical tests he ordered.
Corpas, who threw a scoreless eighth inning in each of his last two games, leads the team with 33 appearances. Until he returns, the Rockies will use left-hander Alan Embree or right-hander Matt Daley to set up closer Huston Street.
Colorado lost setup man Taylor Buchholz during spring training to an elbow injury, and he had Tommy John surgery that will sideline him at least a year.
■ Brewers: Milwaukee's ballpark sustained significant flood damage during a strong storm early yesterday morning, but team officials expect cleanup to be completed in time for the team's homestand next week.
