■ Cardinals: Anquan Boldin said he won't give his injured hamstring a serious test until just before kickoff of Arizona‘s game at Carolina on Saturday night.
Boldin sat out practice for the third day in a row yesterday to rest the injury and did only minor rehabilitation work.
Boldin strained his left hamstring on a 71-yard touchdown pass from Kurt Warner in the second quarter of last Saturday's 30-24 victory over the Atlanta Falcons.
Asked if he could play despite not practicing, Boldin said, "It's been done before."
■ Giants: New York had everyone on the roster practice yesterday for this weekend's NFC semifinal against the Philadelphia Eagles, the first time in more than three months no one has been sidelined by an injury.
Defensive end Justin Tuck (lower leg) and Zak DeOssie (back), a backup linebacker-long snapper, practiced on a limited basis for Sunday's third matchup this season against the Eagles.
The last time the Giants had the whole team practice was Oct. 3, two days before a game against the Seattle Seahawks. The only player who was not at practice that day was receiver Plaxico Burress, who was suspended for missing a team meeting after a game against Cincinnati.
Offensive coordinator Kevin Gilbride refused to say whether he approached the Raiders about their vacant coaching job or whether the Raiders asked the Giants for permission to talk to Gilbride.
The Raiders said Gilbride approached them about the job. He spoke with owner Al Davis by telephone last Saturday.
■ Vikings: Defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier of Minnesota will be interviewed by Detroit Lions officials today for their head-coaching job. The Lions are seeking a replacement for the fired Rob Marinelli.
Frazier met with the Denver Broncos on Wednesday about replacing Mike Shanahan, and was passed over last year after interviewing with the Miami Dolphins and Atlanta Falcons.
Frazier just finished his second season leading a defense that has allowed the fewest yards rushing in the NFL for three straight years.
■ Broncos: Owner Pat Bowlen wrapped up his first round of interviews for Denver's head-coaching vacancy yesterday when he met with secondary coach Todd Bowles of the Miami Dolphins.
Bowlen and his inner circle will now huddle to determine if any of the seven candidates will be offered Mike Shanahan's old job or whether a second round -- or even a second wave -- of interviews is needed.
Bowlen fired Shanahan last week after the Broncos completed the biggest collapse in divisional history, blowing a three-game lead with three weeks go to and finishing 8-8.
■ Jets: Brett Favre is going to take his time before deciding whether to return next season and told ESPN yesterday that he's following the advice of Mike Tannenbaum, the Jets' general manager, by not making a hasty decision on his future.
"He said he's not going to bother me for three or four weeks," Favre said. "He told me to do whatever, and he'd give me a call in a month. Maybe I will tell him my answer that day. But he told me to get away and don't even think about football."
Favre said he plans to make a quiet decision without a public news conference if he does retire, unlike the emotional departure last offseason when he announced his retirement and then returned a few months later.
Favre takes a large part of the blame for the Jets slide from 8-3 to 8-8 but said that wouldn't necessarily increase his desire to come back.
■ Chiefs: Kansas City signed fullback and tight end Jed Collins to a two-year reserve future free-agent contact yesterday. Collins (6-0, 249) entered the NFL as a rookie free agent with Philadelphia this season but was released before the regular season and added to the practice squad.
