FCD, Calvary boys, girls will begin playoffs tonight

Boys and girls basketball teams from Forsyth Country Day and Calvary Baptist will play first-round games of the N.C. Independent Schools Athletic Association basketball playoffs tonight.

FCD will play a first-round, doubleheader at home tonight in Class 3-A. The FCD girls (18-7) will play Charlotte Christian at 6 p.m., and the FCD boys (21-7) will play Cary Academy (18-9) at 7:30.

In Class 2-A, both of Calvary's teams will play on the road. The Calvary girls (23-9) will play at Charlotte Victory Christian, and the Calvary boys (18-14) will play at Fayetteville Academy (21-7).

First round games in the Class 3-A and 2-A tournaments will be played at the higher-seeded team, and then both tournaments will move to neutral sites for Thursday's quarterfinals and Friday's semifinals.

For the next two rounds, Class 3-A will move to Charlotte Country Day, and Class 2-A will move to Charlotte Providence Day. Championship games for both classifications will be held on Saturday at Charlotte Latin.

High Point Wesleyan also had boys and girls teams to qualify and the High Point Westchester boys are the No. 2 seed in Class 2-A. Tonight, Wesleyan's girls (14-10) will be at home against North Raleigh Christian (13-13) and Wesleyan's boys (14-11) will be at home against Charlotte Providence Day (8-19).

Westchester's boys (26-2) will open tonight at home against Cape Fear Academy (12-12).
