Corinne Groves scored a career-high 32 points to help lead Wake Forest past Clemson 71-66 yesterday.
Groves was 13 of 20 from the field and hit all six of her free-throw attempts.
Lele Hardy led Clemson with 20 points and eight rebounds.
The Deacons are 17-5 overall and 4-4 in the ACC; the Tigers are 13-12 and 2-8.
This is the first time Wake Forest has won as many as four ACC games since the 2003-04 season, when they finished 12-17 and 4-14.
The Deacons got off to a fast start, taking a 9-2 lead in the first seven minutes. The Tigers rallied to within 10-9 and took the lead at 27-26 on a field goal by Whitney Hood with 4:51 left in the first half.
Clemson then outscored Wake Forest 10-2 to take a 37-28 lead at halftime.
The Deacons rallied in the second half to take a 54-50 lead on back-to-back 3-pointers by Courtney Morris with 11:14 remaining. Morris finished with 13 points.
Wake Forest led by as many as 10 points late in the second half before Clemson rallied down the stretch.
Morris hit two foul shots with 25 seconds on the clock to give the Deacons a 71-66 lead.
Wake Forest will be on the road Thursday night against N.C. State in Reynolds Coliseum.
