WFU blanks UNCW 5-0

Senior forward Kaley Fountain had two goals and an assist, and Jill Hutchinson added two goals to lead Wake Forest (3-0-0) to a 5-0 win over UNC Wilmington (0-1-0) last night at Spry Stadium.

The Deacons' offense remained hot, adding five goals and 23 shots to its season totals. Through three games, the Deacons lead the ACC with 12 goals and 73 shots attempted.

Sophomore Taylor Norman finished the scoring for the Deacons with her first college goal late in the second half.

Five different players had assists in the game for Wake Forest, including senior Allie Sadow with two. Caitlin Farrell, Fountain, Laura Morse and Marisa Park each had one assist.

Morse got her first shutout of the season in goal, making four stops in the game.

. She improved to 3-0-0. Caitlin Hunter suffered the loss in net for UNCW, allowing two goals and making four saves.

Wake Forest returns to action on Sunday, hosting Loyola (Md.) at 1 p.m. at Spry Stadium.
