Wildlife rules hearings scheduled

»  Comments | Post a Comment

■ The N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission has scheduled its annual series of nine public hearings to allow citizens to comment on proposed changes to the state's hunting and fishing rules.

One meeting will be in Northwest North Carolina. It will be held at Starmount High School in Boonville on Jan. 15 at 7 p.m.

The proposed changes include removing the daily bag limit on deer and eliminating the winter either-sex turkey season.

A full text of the proposed regulations changes can be found on the NCWRC's Web site, www.ncwildlife.org. Click on the 2009 Proposed Regulations and Public Hearings Schedule link.

Beginning next week, a "submit comments" link will be posted on the NCWRC's home page.

After hearing public comments and reviewing written comments, the 19 members of the NCWRC will meet in March and vote.
