Lawson will make his decision on NBA today

Ty Lawson, North Carolina's point guard, is still undecided about returning to school to play his junior basketball season or staying in the NBA Draft.

Lawson said he will make his decision today. The deadline for withdrawing from the draft is today at 5 p.m.

"I haven't made a decision yet," Lawson said when reached in Chapel Hill on his cell phone on Saturday. "I'll know on Monday. I'm in school right now."

Lawson would not say if he were favoring to return to UNC or to stay in the draft.

"It's like 50-50 right now," Lawson said. "I'm not leaning towards any way right now."

Lawson is one of three UNC players with remaining eligibility who filed for early entry into the draft.

Danny Green, a forward, told Fox Sports on Friday that he is likely going to return to UNC for his senior season. His father, Danny Green Sr., told the Fayetteville Observer that he would definitely be back.

Wayne Ellington, a guard, has not indicated his decision. He was a sophomore last season.

Neither Green nor Ellington could be reached by the Winston-Salem Journal.

All three players have participated in NBA evaluation camps. NBA analysts say they believe that only Lawson has a chance of being taken in the first round after his camp performances.

Clouding Lawson's status is his arrest in Chapel Hill on June 6 at 2:33 a.m. for driving after drinking and underage drinking. He was also charged with driving with a suspended or revoked license and a noise ordinance violation.

He has a July 8 court appearance in Chapel Hill in District Criminal Court.

The three players were the Nos. 2-4 scorers on last season's UNC team, which finished 36-3 and reached the NCAA Final Four.

Ellington averaged 16.6 points, Lawson averaged 12.7 and Green 11.5. Lawson also led UNC in assists.
