Allie Sadow scored the game-winning goal at 7:58 of the first overtime as Wake Forest came from behind to defeat Utah 2-1 last night in the season-opening game at Spry Stadium.

Sadow scored from 7 yards out at 97:58 off a cross from Amy Smerdzinski that went inside the right post.

Utah took a 1-0 lead at 11:54 after Kelly Isleib scored off assists from Katie Reineke and Lauren Hair.

The Deacons tied it 18:35 after Jill Hutchinson scored off an assist from Kaley Fountain. Fountain passed to Hutchinson and Hutchinson shot from outside the box; the ball deflected off goalkeeper Emalee Rogers and bounced into the net.

Although Wake Forest fought from behind, it outshot Utah 21-6.

Amanda Barasha had one save for Wake Forest.

The Deacons are off until Friday when they will travel to Florence, S.C., to play Francis Marion at 4 p.m.
