Journal's Events and Sponsorships

With over 300,000 readers every week, the Winston-Salem Journal is Northwest North Carolina's premier news and information medium.

It has long been the policy of the Journal to support community projects and events that benefit Journal readers and communities in important ways.

A great many non-profit agencies add immeasurably to the quality of life throughout the region and it is our privilege to participate with some of them in service projects that benefit tens of thousands of people each year.

Some of the events and groups that the Journal supports include:

The American Red Cross - 12 Days of Christmas Blood Drive
Humanitarian organization, helping millions of people each year prevent, prepare for and cope with emergencies.

March of Dimes - Chili Cookoff and Rubber Duck Regatta
Nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the health of babies by reducing birth defects and infant mortality.

Hospice - Hope Run and Christmas Ornament sale
Strives to enhance the quality of life by managing symptoms, controlling pain, and creating the most comfortable in-home environment possible.

Crisis Control - Hope du Jour Dining Out Day
Participating restaurants will donate 10 % of their day's receipts to Crisis Control Ministry. Proceeds purchase grocery items for the Ministry's food pantry

Salvation Army - Stocking Drive
Donors are given the opportunity to pick up empty stockings and return them full of items children need at Christmas and all year round.

American Heart Association - American Heart Walk
American Heart Walk is a non-competitive walking event geared to companies that raise funds and awareness for a cure for heart and stroke disease.

Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation - Race for the Cure
A May race/walk that raises money to fight breast cancer and provides survivors numerous ways to celebrate their victories.

Winston-Salem / Piedmont-Triad Symphony

In addition to the above in-kind sponsorships, The Journal's non-profit matching fund program enables dozens of local non-profit arts agencies to benefit from reduced advertising rates. Call the Journal's advertising department at (336) 727-7411 for more info.
