The storms may have moved out of the Triad but the mountain counties of Northwest North Carolina could still see some hazardous weather conditions, the National Weather Service said Thursday.
In Surry and Wilkes counties, wind gusts of up to 45 miles per hour are possible today, along with potential quick snow showers.
In Ashe, Alleghany and Watauga counties, a high-wind warning is in effect from 6 p.m. Thursday through 4 p.m. Friday. Gusts of up to 60 miles per hour are possible during that time as an arctic cold front moves across the area. The winds could lead to downed trees and power lines.
The cold front will likely lead to snow in the mountains overnight, with accumulations of as much as 3 inches possible in some places.
Thursday's forecast in Forsyth County calls for mostly sunny skies with a high of 58 degrees and a 30 percent chance of before 10 p.m.
