Conversion of E. Fourth St. section to 2-way traffic set
The portion of East Fourth Street between Metropolitan and Martin Luther King Jr. drives will be converted to two-way traffic at noon today. The portion between Main Street and Metropolitan Drive opened to two-way traffic Feb. 13.
However, the block between Patterson Avenue and Chestnut Street remained closed to westbound traffic pending installation of warning lights at the railroad crossing.
Winston-Salem's transportation department is converting Fourth Street in phases to two-way traffic between Main Street and Dunleith Avenue.

N.C. lottery to drop 12 instant scratch-off games
The N.C. Education Lottery is taking 12 instant scratch-off games out of circulation at the end of the month.
A statement from lottery officials said all instant game prizes must be claimed within 90 days of the announced end-of-game date of Feb. 29. Therefore, all prizes associated with the games must be claimed on or before May 29.
Claims of $600 up to $99,999 must be made at one of the six regional claim centers before 5 p.m. that day, while claims of $100,000 and above must be made at lottery headquarters before 5 p.m. on that day as well.
Claims that are mailed to the NCEL must be received within 90 days of the official end-of-game date. Postmarks will not satisfy the 90-day requirement.

Nine dogs perish in fire at Salisbury animal clinic
Nine dogs have died in a fire at an animal clinic in Salisbury.
Fire officials said the fire at Rowan Animal Clinic started around 1:30 a.m. Sunday, and it took firefighters several hours to get the fire under control. The building was heavily damaged.
None of the animals inside was able to be rescued.
Authorities said the cause of the fire is still under investigation.

"The X Factor" television show on Fox is holding auditions May 1 at the Greensboro Coliseum.
The talent show is searching for the best new solo artists and vocal groups in America for its second season.
The winner of season two gets a $5 million recording contract with Sony Music.
More information, including registration details and line-up procedures in Greensboro, has not yet been announced.
