Tricia Creasey, a Davidson County teacher whose fight with cancer was featured on the TV show “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition,” has died.

Creasey died about 2:30 p.m. today at her home with her family by her side, WGHP Fox-8, the Journal's news partner, reported.

Creasey, 39, was diagnosed with colorectal cancer in 2006. She underwent chemotherapy while continuing to teach seventh-grad science and social studies at E. Lawson Brown Middle School in Thomasville.

In November 2009, her story drew the attention of the ABC reality show “Extreme Makeover,” and the show hired contractor to work with volunteers tearing down her old home and building a new one.
