Graduation season winds down this week when UNC School of the Arts graduates its class of 2011 on Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Stevens Center.
Composer Alan Menken, who has won more Oscars than any living person, will deliver the keynote address.
He has written film scores for "Beauty and the Beast," "Aladdin" and "Pocahontas."
WSSU team to attend leadership institute
A team of faculty members and administrators from Winston-Salem State University will attend a summer institute designed to provide leadership development for women of color.
Participants will be learning ways to enhance undergraduate education and research in the areas of science, technology, engineering and math.
Faculty members Tennille Presley, Lenora Campbell and Bertha Shelton and administrators Denise Pearson and Brenda Allen will represent WSSU.
UNC Greensboro unveils prelude classes
UNC Greensboro's Bryan School of Business and Economics is unveiling the Bryan Prelude, a new program that will give people a chance to take graduate-level courses before committing to a full degree program.
Beginning in the fall, prospective students may enroll in classes in three programs: the evening MBA Prelude program, the Master of Science in Information Technology Management Prelude program or the Master of Science in Accounting Prelude program.
Course credit earned while enrolled in the Bryan Prelude programs may be applied to degree programs.
Applicants need a minimum GPA of 3.0 from their undergraduate studies.
