RALEIGH - Three television debates between candidates for U.S. Senate in North Carolina have been scheduled.

The North Carolina Association of Broadcasters Educational Foundation announced Thursday debates will occur at 7 p.m. on Oct. 11 and Oct. 21 at the University of North Carolina Television studios in Research Triangle Park. The debates will air on other TV stations and on radio.

Republican incumbent Richard Burr and Democrat Elaine Marshall have agreed to participate. It wasn't clear if Libertarian candidate Michael Beitler had been invited. A foundation official didn't immediately return a phone call.

The League of Women Voters of North Carolina said Thursday all three candidates have accepted an invitation to a debate at 8 p.m. Oct. 13 at the WNCN-TV studios in Raleigh.
