No physical on file for N.C. A&T student who died

GREENSBORO
Officials at a North Carolina university say no record of a physical exam was on file for a student who died at a tryout for the school's track and field team.

The News & Record of Greensboro reported that Chancellor Harold Martin said normal procedures weren't followed because the tryout at North Carolina A&T State University in Greensboro wasn't planned or approved.

Twenty-year-old Jospin Milandu of Knightdale died Aug. 19 after he collapsed on the track.

Martin says none of the 29 students who participated in the tryout had a physical on file, a violation of NCAA policy. Martin says school policies also were violated because Milandu didn't sign a waiver before participating in the tryout and no trainer was assigned to the event.
