A fire caused extensive damage to a home in Surry County yesterday, a county fire official said.
The fire occurred just after 1 p.m. at the home in the 200 block of Nonnie Road, which is in the Pine Ridge fire district, said fire inspector Jason Burkholder.
The fire burned much of the upstairs of the home, and the downstairs had extensive smoke and water damage, Burkholder said. A damage estimate was not available.
Three people were home at the time of the fire. None were injured, but one was taken to Northern Hospital for observation, Burkholder said.
Investigators believe the fire started as a result of an overloaded electrical outlet, Burkholder said.
