Suspensions reduced for two WFU players

»  Comments | Post a Comment

The suspensions of Chris Givens and Kevin Smith have been reduced from two games to one and both will be available for Wake Forest in Saturday's ACC opener against Duke.

Coach Jim Grobe revealed the decision before today's practice, saying that the violation of the unspecified team rule that resulted in the suspensions actually occurred last November.

"We felt like both kids have been really good kids up until this point and we just felt like the punishment had served its purpose, and another game is not going to do anything more," Grobe said. "Their behavior has been what we wanted it to be."

Givens is a sophomore wide receiver from Wylie, Texas, who had 45 catches for 629 yards and a team-high eight touchdowns last season. Smith is a sophomore freshman defensive end from Plano, Texas, who played as reserve in all 12 games last season.
