Forsyth County Commissioner Beaufort Bailey can't leave the hospital today to vote on a library bond referendum for the November ballot.
So, the entire board of commissioners will hold a special meeting at 12:30 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center, where Bailey is recovering for surgery for an intestinal blockage.
The meeting will be in conference rooms 1 and 2 in the Ardmore Tower on the main level of the hospital.
The meeting is likely to be short: The only item on the agenda is the $40 million bond package, which has already been through a public hearing and discussion.
The proposal calls for spending $28 million for a new or renovated Central Library and $6 million each on libraries in Clemmons and Kernersville.
The commissioners are allowed to meet at non-typical locations such as a hospital conference room, but the meeting place has to be accessible to the public.
Without Bailey's vote, the board would likely be deadlocked 3-3 and unable to muster a majority for the bond vote. With Bailey present, the measure is likely to pass 4-3.
Residents who want to attend the meeting, should park in lots B and C at Wake Forest Baptist, which are off Medical Center Boulevard. Free parking passes will be given out during the meeting.
