Jack Jensen, a legendary coach at Guilford College and a 1961 graduate of Wake Forest, died Sunday night, sources at Guilford said.

Jensen, 71, coached Guilford to three national championships in golf (1989, 2002, 2005) and coached the men's basketball team to the NAIA national championship in 1973. Guilford has five national championships in school history, and Jensen was the coach of four of those teams.

A member of the NAIA, North Carolina and Guilford halls of fame, Jensen had 386 career victories during his 29 seasons as the basketball coach.

He was in his 33rd season as the golf coach. The Quakers played in a weekend tournament at Camp Lejeune, finishing sixth. They returned to campus Sunday.

Jensen is survived by his wife of 37 years, Marsha, two children and one grandson.
