l The N.C. Barbecue Society will hold its next BBQ Boot Camp on May 14 and 15 at Tanglewood Park in Clemmons.
Three pitmasters will give hands-on lessons in cooking Eastern- and Lexington-style pork, ribs, chicken, beef brisket, whole salmon, sauces, side dishes and more.
The camp begins with a cookout and mixer Friday night. Classes are held all day Saturday, and the camp ends with a feast of all the food that the students have prepared.
Adults may sign up for the full camp for $300, which does not including lodging. Campers may bring a guest to the final dinner for an additional $25. Teens, 15 to 18, may sign up only for the Saturday classes for $30.
Camps are also planned in Asheville on July 23 and 24, and in Wilmington on Oct. 1 and 2. In conjunction with these two camps, the society will also give classes for people who want to become barbecue-competition judges.
