A Winston-Salem woman accused in a drunken-driving wreck last month that killed three of her passengers had a blood-alcohol content of more than twice the legal limit for driving, court records show.

According to a search-warrant application, a blood sample taken from 20-year-old Amanda Sperduti showed a blood-alcohol concentration of 0.20, more than double the legal limit of 0.08.

Sperduti is accused of driving her mother's 2008 Acura at speeds of 90 mph on Fairgrove Church Road in Browns Summit near N.C. 150 on Feb. 13. The vehicle skidded off the road and hit a tree, killing her passengers: Scott Bedwell, 23; Sascha Hoffman, 18; and Taylor McCaskill, 18.

Hoffman was the only passenger wearing a seat belt, according to the Highway Patrol. Everyone in the vehicle was ejected or partly ejected.

The speed limit at the crash site is 45 mph.

After weeks in the hospital, Sperduti turned herself in to authorities last week and was charged with driving while intoxicated and three counts of felony death by motor vehicle and speeding. She was released after posting bond.

The warrant application obtained by Trooper M.L. Mann on March 4 says that another officer was dispatched to Moses Cone Hospital after the wreck to determine whether Sperduti had been drinking. Trooper J.D. Goodnight observed Sperduti in a trauma room and detected "a moderate odor of alcohol emitting from (her) body."

A blood sample was taken and tested at the SBI lab in Greensboro. Lab results showed a 0.20 blood-alcohol content.

The search-warrant application also says that an empty beer can and a small liquor bottle that contained a small amount of liquid were recovered from the Acura.

The application was signed by a criminal magistrate, and sought to review computer data from an airbag module from the vehicle to obtain data about the crash.

Sperduti's next court appearance is April 21.
