Tractor-trailer overturns on U.S. 52, blocking traffic

»  Comments | Post a Comment

A tractor-trailer carrying a load of frozen food overturned about 9 tonight on U.S. 52 South near Bethania-Rural Hall Road, authorities said.
One southbound lane is still open, but at some point tonight both southbound lanes will be blocked, said Lt. Wilson Weaver of the Winston-Salem Police Department. Authorities expected it to take six to seven hours to get the wreckage hauled away.
The driver, Dennis Dale Rogers, 57, of Kentucky, was taken to a local hospital, but did not appear to be seriously injured, Weaver said.
The 18-wheeler hit a tree when it flipped over and the trailer was torn open, spilling some of its contents.
