»  Comments | Post a Comment

Deputy James Finnegan has finished his testimony in the trial of Keith Antoine Carter, who is charged with first-degree murder in the death of Sgt. Howard Plouff outside the former Red Rooster nightclub on Feb. 23, 2007.

Finnegan was one of a number of off-duty officers who was at the club trying to break up a fight that started inside the Red Rooster and then spilled out into the parking lot.

Plouff responded to the nightclub to assist the off-duty officers and was shot in the neck as he moved among the crowd. He died later at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center.

Testimony will resume this afternoon.
