WINSTON- SALEM -- Bib's Downtown barbecue restaurant of Winston-Salem was among the winners at this year's Texas Pete Twin City RibFest, which began Thursday and runs through today.

Award winners in the professional competition were announced yesterday. Bib's won the "People's Choice" award. Pigfoot, based out of Ohio, won for "Best Sauce." And Camp 31, from Alabama, won two awards, for both "Best Ribs" and "Grand Champion."

Allen McDavid, the producer of RibFest, said that crowds were spending more freely this year, with rib sellers reporting about twice as much volume as they had last year.

McDavid said that he hopes to pass the 20,000 attendance mark this year. About 19,000 people attend the festival in 2009.

RibFest continues today at the Dixie Classic Fairgrounds.
