CLEMMONS
Four years ago, Matt and Stacy Johnson lost a son.
"We were doing really great with the grief," Stacy Johnson said yesterday. "Now it's like he died two days ago and we have to start all over again."
That's because their house was broken into this week and an oval wooden box containing the ashes of their son, Ethan, was stolen.
Ethan was born Aug. 21, 2006, at just 20 weeks. He died the same day; his lungs had not developed.
The couple also have a 2-year-old son, Parker.
The Johnsons kept the 12-by-18-inch box in a closet for safekeeping while they decided where to spread Ethan's ashes.
The box also contained a teddy bear and the blanket Ethan was wrapped in at the hospital.
"Anything that had to do with him, I just put in that box," Stacy Johnson said. "I'm just scared he's in the garbage somewhere."
The back door of the couple's house on Greenfield Way Drive, between Stadium Drive and Kinnamon Road, was kicked in between 1:15 and 3:40 p.m. Wednesday, according to the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office.
About $5,000 worth of goods were taken, according to sheriff's reports. The items included a hedge trimmer, a diaper bag and a remote control for a Wii game console.
Witnesses described a car in the area at the time as a black four-door sedan with extensive damage to the driver's door.
Anyone with information about the case is asked to call the sheriff's office at 727-2112.
