CHARLOTTE
A Charlotte man has been sentenced to more than five years in prison after pleading guilty in the 2008 shooting death of a 15-year-old North Carolina girl.

The Charlotte Observer reports that 19-year-old Rashawn Franks was sentenced Thursday after pleading guilty to voluntary manslaughter in the death of Ishema Gause.

Police say Gause was found shot and bleeding in the breezeway of an apartment complex in November 2008. She died later at a hospital.

Five months before Gause's death, three people were shot and wounded at the same complex. A day after those shootings, a teen was killed at the apartments.
