Wine: Grove Winery 2007 Sangiovese.
Cost: $17.
Review: Grove Winery is on a 44-acre farm northeast of Greensboro in Guilford County. It's a small winery that produces about 3,000 cases a year. Grove's 2007 Sangiovese is an enjoyable, easy-drinking wine. It's also another sign that the sangiovese grape, native to the Chianti region of Italy, has promise in North Carolina. Grove's Sangiovese, blended with 9 percent cabernet sauvignon, has a smoky aroma. It features the classic cherry flavor associated with sangiovese, along with a medium body, nice balance and smooth finish. Serve with pizza or burgers. Available at City Beverage in Winston-Salem or at the winery. For more information, visit www.grovewinery.com.
