MOCKSVILLE —Davie County Hospital said this week that it has received the Gold Seal of Approval from the Joint Commission.
The commission, an independent, not-for-profit organization, is the nation's oldest and largest standards-setting and accrediting body in health care.
The rating came from the hospital's ability to demonstrate compliance with the commission's national standards for health-care quality and safety. As part of the evaluation process, the commission conducted an unannounced, on-site evaluation of the hospital.
The commission's goal is "stimulating continuous, systematic and organization-wide improvement in a hospital's performance and the outcomes of care," said Mark Pelletier, the commission's executive director for Hospital Programs, Accreditation and Certification Services.
The accreditation for the hospital is for a three–year period. The hospital's acute care, long-term care and the home-care program were included in the process and also accredited by the commission.
