Workers win $200,000 in state lottery

MOUNT AIRY — A group of 14 co-workers in Surry County claimed a $200,000 Powerball prize after its ticket matched all five white balls in the Jan. 9 drawing, officials with the N.C. Lottery said.

Danny Vaughn of Mount Airy bought the ticket for the group at the Zip Food Store in Mount Airy. The winners will receive $9,414 each after taxes.

Winners in addition to Vaughn were Lyle Bowman, Harry Brintle, Brandon Easter, Robert Easter, Jimmy Flinchum, Horace Flippin, Delman Hawkes, Rocky Hawks Jr., Michael Haynes, Henry Jones, James Marshall, Jason Watson and Michael Wilson.
